The location of this property is in Betty's Bay, which is situated on the Western Cape coast between Kleinmond and Pringle Bay.  It can be reached by the scenic Clarence Drive route and is just 55 miles(89km) drive from Cape Town.  This is a stunning area within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, formerly a whaling station, now home to Harold Porter Botanical Gardens.

Betty's Bay has several stunning beaches, which are suitable for many varied activities.  Main beach is a family beach, perfect for surfing, swimming or just beautiful walks and has lifeguards present in season.  Hanklip beach seems endless and walks can be enjoyed around the point to Pringle Bay, taking in lovely views of False Bay.  On clear days, as you round Hangklip you can also see the other side of False Bay.

All along the coast line of Betty's Bay, small rivers flow into the sea and evidence of the shy Cape Sea Otter can be found in many places.  As the conservation area in front of the house incorporates a small stream which leads to the beach, this is an excellent opportunity for spotting these rarely seen creatures.  These otters are seen more often within the nature reserve than any where else.

There are also many smaller beaches and coves, such as Shelly Beach which is near to Harold Porter Gardens.  Walking down to the beach from the house, a natural lake is also located, this lake is coloured brown due to tannins leached from the Fymbos.  The old whaling station at Stony Point is also within walking distance along Main Beach, this is where the renowned Jackass Penguin colony is situated.

Pringle Bay is just a few minutes drive away, with a beautiful beach and trendy coffee shops, it's a lovely place to visit.  Going in the opposite direction you'll find Kleinmond, with it's own beaches and lagoon.  On the far side of Kleinmond is another protected marshland where the Cape Micro frog, a highly endangered species, resides.  Within this area and further north along the coast, wild horses can be found and horse treks to see them can be arranged.

Sightly further along the coast, Hermanus is located.  This is a very lively seaside town which hosts the annual Whale Festival.  Excellent shopping, food and tourist activities can be found at Hermanus.  Here the whale crier blows his seaweed trumpet whenever whales are sighted, they are seen almost daily during whaling season and often bask against the harbour walls.
